In seeking a spacious and modern home to upgrade from his outdated apartment, Thomas Altavilla was wowed by the blend of interior luxury with historic exteriors at East Gate in Fort Monmouth.
Previously, Thomas resided in an older rental in Morristown, NJ, for four years. As a first-time homeowner, he prioritized location, size and quality in his search for a new home.
Narrowing down location was a relatively easy decision for Thomas upon finding East Gate. Originally, he was looking for something closer to the Jersey Shore, such as Asbury Park and Ocean Grove, but found himself disappointed that the homes were not up to his criteria.
“I was looking for something a bit more spacious, newer, and closer to the Jersey Shore,” he said. “East Gate is the perfect balance of proximity to the vibrancy of Red Bank, Asbury Park and the convenience of the Garden State Parkway. What’s more, the community’s maintenance free lifestyle was a huge advantage since I frequently travel for work.”
Thomas was astounded by the amount of detail that went into the design of the homes at East Gate, from the oversized bedrooms and master bathroom to the open kitchen concept. He found the recessed lighting, sophisticated carpets and chic fixtures valuable touches to the townhomes.
“The open layout, high end work, great appliances and design really drew me into the community,” he said. “The storage, outdoor space and smooth moving process added to the already perfect balance of everything at East Gate. “Fort Monmouth has a lot to offer and I’m excited for what is to come.”
East Gate is over 70% sold and is fast becoming the premier live/play neighborhood on the famed Jersey Shore. The community is the first residential component at the 1,226-acre former army post and is expected to soon be joined by exciting new lifestyle amenities. Expected to open this summer are the Fort Athletic Club fitness center and the The Loft microbrewery and event space located in the former Dance Hall building. Both are located minutes from East Gate. And that’s not all. Also not far from East Gate, the Fort Monmouth Bowling Center, a recreational amenity planned to include a bar, bocce courts, pool table, stage and more in the Eatontown portion of Fort Monmouth, is on pace to be completed this year.
Thomas selected a spacious three-bedroom townhome at East Gate. His new residence, the community and his buying process has wildly exceeded expectations.
“As a first time homeowner, I couldn’t have asked for a better experience so far,” he says. “The neighborhood is extremely welcoming. The warranty is a nice peace of mind as a new homeowner and the fee simple HOA takes the strain off upkeep.”
East Gate boasts eye-catching architecture and distinctive homes that offer an attractive alternative to the area’s conventional housing stock. To create a nostalgic, yet contemporary living experience at the community, RPM Development has masterfully blended the original building exteriors which date back to the early 20th century with contemporary interiors boasting expansive living spaces and designer finishes and appointments.
“Personally, I really enjoy the brick exterior, but also having the ability to eventually finish the basement,” Thomas said. “My Dad loves the deep windows - it so unique.”
Palermo Edwards Architecture has remodeled the buildings’ interiors to create new two- and three-story homes with luxurious kitchens and bathrooms and a high level of style and comfort. Generous floorplans feature designer elements, including hardwood flooring throughout first floors, modern kitchens with granite or quartz countertops, stainless steel Kohler fixtures and GE appliance packages; and master-bathroom suites with double vanity countertops, Moen Eva faucets and showers with built-in benches and frameless shower doors.
Oceanport is one of Monmouth County’s most desired residential settings, combining a distinctly suburban environment with award-winning schools and reasonable taxes. The Borough also provides an incredibly commuter-friendly location with easy access to all that makes Jersey Shore living so special.
East Gate itself is situated just minutes from popular New Jersey beaches and the banks of the Shrewsbury River, and is in proximity to the entertainment, dining and culture of Red Bank and Asbury Park. Commuters will enjoy the location just two miles from New Jersey Transit’s Little Silver Train Station, which provides direct service to Manhattan, as well as easy access to major highways including Routes 35, 36, 18 and the Garden State Parkway, which makes Mr. Altavilla’s commute a breeze.
